I partnered with Booker T. Washington and Donald Robertson (Artist, Creative Director Estee Lauder) to brand the school’s annual performance. For the first time, the event would be held outdoors at the ATT&T Performance Center.
Donald and I wanted the event to be nostalgic of 70’s festivals by incorporating a tie-dye inspired palette and generally groovy vibes. Donald created a painting for the logo which encompasses all four genres of art classes offered at Booker T; Dance, Music, Theater, and Visual Art.
I combined his painting with modern psychedelic font pairings, gradient overlays, and other funky-fun design elements to create branding that felt like a clean and contemporary version of vintage festival posters. That way I was able to showcase the creative essence of Booker T.; a school that is as rooted in teaching traditional artistic techniques, but puts a youthful-spirited twist on them every year.
